Natalie Raquel Acuña

I attended community college at College of the Sequoias in my hometown Visalia, CA, where I received an Associates Degree in English and transferred to Humboldt State University in 2018. I then went on to graduate with a BA in English at Humboldt State University in Spring 2021. I am currently a first-year graduate student with HSU’s Applied English M.A. program as of Fall 2021. My research focuses on developing equity and inclusion within writing, and how to provide students with the resources they need to successfully learn writing at a college/professional level. My current goals are to develop my research to fit my interests with creative writing and to examine how incorporating creative writing within my research could help future students destigmatize writing and remove negative assumptions about writing. My future goals are to continue research after the MA and pursue an MFA, with the possibility of returning to my community college with the hopes of inspiring students in a place that formed my passion for writing.
