Faculty and staff in the Humboldt English Department are engaged in ongoing discussions about ways we can disrupt white supremacy in our classes and programs. We are working collaboratively to center racial justice in our policies and practices. For example, we are currently assessing course offerings, attendance policies, grading, classroom culture, hiring and evaluation processes, and scholarship criteria through an intersectional racial justice lens. As individuals and a collective, we are exploring abolitionist accountability models and other ways to transform our institutional structures.
